Beverly was my father's cousin, growing up with him in the area around Paterson.

When I was about 12 years old, Beverly took me to see a Broadway show for the first time, which was a memorable experience on its own, but it also marked the first time I was able to really get to see some of New York City.  In addition to seeing the Phantom of the Opera (then in the second year of its over-30-year run), we went to the one of the last existing Automat restaurants, as well as the top of the Empire State Building.     

It sparked a love for the city for me which remains to this day.   

My reason for mentioning it here is that it was simply not something my parents would have been able to do for me.  

In other words, I have Beverly to thank for one of the handful of things that I truly love in this world.

I'm grateful for having known her and to have been at her side during the loss of her sister.

Beverly was a good friend to us.  We went to daily Mass together at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton church  and she was thinking of becoming a Carmelite and singing in the choir.   She had a powerful voice.  We will miss her.
