Claire S. Facciola, 95, born March 13, 1931, in Weehawken, New Jersey, passed away on June 21, 2026. Claire’s life was marked by steady devotion to family, a kind-hearted presence that put others at ease, and the quiet wisdom that comes from meeting life with resilience and grace.
Born in Weehawken to the late John and Barbara Giani, Claire grew up there and graduated from Weehawken High School in 1949, where she sang in the high school choir—one of the early places her warmth and spirit could be felt. She later moved her family to North Bergen, where she raised her family, and in 1994 she relocated to Toms River, New Jersey.
In Toms River, Claire worked at the Toms River Walmart from the very beginning when it opened in 1994. Through the everyday rhythm of work and community, she carried herself with compassion and a steady, good-natured humor—offering kindness that was simple, genuine, and lasting.
Claire was married to the love of her life, Thomas "Bob", who predeceased her in 2010. She was also predeceased by her loving daughter Barbara Anello in 2025. Claire is survived by her loving daughter Margaret Peretti and her husband Joseph; her grandchildren, Gina Peretti (Joseph Schodowski), Maggie Peretti (Adrian Skibniewski), and Alyssa Anello; her great grandson, Theodore Schodowski; her son in law William Anello; her sister Rita Cocco; her sister in law Fran Facciola; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Claire found joy in the moments that brought people together—watching hockey, especially the NJ Devils; taking her granddaughters to the boardwalk to watch the fireworks; and unwinding with classical music and trips to the Opera after a long day of shopping.
She also gave of herself in practical, thoughtful ways, including delivering the paper for the Silver Ridge West Community—an everyday act of service that reflected her devoted care for the place she called home.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026 from 4-8 pm at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Rd., Toms River. Interment will be on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 12:00 pm at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
