Corinne was born on August 1, 1933 to Marie (Ferrazzano) and Joseph C. Marmo Sr. In Paterson NJ. Her early years were spent embraced by a large loving family. She had great memories of being able to walk to her grandparents’ homes after school, Sunday dinners, family barbecues and outings with her beloved dog King. Corinne’s spiritual journey began in St Gerard’s Roman Catholic Church in Paterson NJ. Friends and family remember her being an active participant in church activities and singing in the choir. She remained a devout Catholic her entire life and forever carried Jesus in her heart. After her High School graduation, she began her career at Curtiss Wright Corporation as an administrative assistant. Corinne continued to pursue her dream of teaching and years later earned a BA in Education from Montclair State University. After a stint of substitute teaching, she became a Business teacher at East Orange High School. Corinne was devoted to her students and an active part of after school clubs while also acting as a class advisor over her teaching career.
Corinne loved to travel and had many memorable times driving and flying across the country to spend time with treasured friends and family. Her favorite destinations were Italy and Hawaii, as she made repeat visits to both places. Later in life she looked forward to her yearly trips with friends to the Cayman Islands and sipping Bahama Mamas on the beach. Other favorite pastimes included her love of sports. Dependent on the season you were guaranteed to hear her cheering on her beloved Yankees, Giants and Devils! She was also a great Frank Sinatra fan and loved monkeys! Many stuffed ones were gifted to her by those who knew her best! She was committed and devoted to her family and lit up a room with her presence and joyful laughter. The name Cor Cor was lovingly bestowed upon her by some of her great nieces and nephew as she was a favorite playmate while they were growing up.
Corinne’s love of the water took her to the shore point of Brick, NJ where she took up full time residence after retiring from teaching at age 62. Silverwoods Retirement Community became her home from her mid seventies on. She made many new friends and thoroughly enjoyed the many activities and trips offered. Corinne once again immersed herself in her community while being treasurer of the Golden Girls and assisting with the campus phone tree.
