Donald James McLain, 84, passed away on June 15, 2026 at the HMH Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ. Born on December 20, 1941, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Donald was raised in Carteret, NJ, and was a 52 year resident of Sewaren, New Jersey, before relocating to Toms River, New Jersey 3 years ago.
Donald served in the U.S. Army Reserves and built a long and respected career in business. He retired as the Director of Purchasing with Revlon, following earlier work with the JP Williams and Mennen Company. Throughout his life, Donald was known for his honesty and steady character—someone who approached responsibilities with care, and decisions with thoughtful consideration.
A beloved presence to those who knew him, Donald found genuine enjoyment in the things that brought him close to the outdoors and the water. He was a car enthusiast who also loved boats and visiting the beach. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and was an avid gardener, taking quiet satisfaction in the simple pleasures of time well spent.
Donald was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Helen McLain; and his sisters, Marjorie Kiselyk and Barbara Sloan. He is survived by his wife, Gloria J. McLain; his daughter, Lisa McLain Deverin; his grandchildren, Daniel R. Deverin and Lauren A. Deverin; and a sister, sister, Janet Williams.
