

Donato A. “Danny” DeRose, 87, of Berkeley Twp, passed away Friday March 4 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Born in Elizabeth he lived in Roselle Park for 16 years before moving to Holiday City Heights in Berkeley Twp 19 years ago. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in WW II. He was a chemical board operator for Exxon Inc in Linden for 38 years, retiring in 1983. He was a former member of the Stallions A.C. in Elizabeth, a communicant of St. Maximilian Kolbe RCC and a member of the Holiday City Heights Social Club.
He was predeceased by his son Donald in 2007.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Geraldine nee Mascot DeRose; three sons, Daniel DeRose and his wife Mary of Hamilton Square, NJ, Patrick DeRose of Union, NJ, Peter DeRose and his wife Melissa of Millstone Twp; a daughter, Sr. Marisa DeRose FMA of Hawthorne, NJ; a daughter-in-law Debra DeRose of Clark, NJ; a brother Joseph DeRose of FL; a sister Theresa Byrne and her husband James of FL. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours are Monday March 7 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ 08755. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 8 at St. Maximilian Kolbe RCC, Toms River at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow at the NJ Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
