

Dorothy (Dottie) A. Sodano (nee: Donofrio), age 98, passed away Monday morning July 21, 2025 while residing at Arbor Terrace Assisted Living in Shrewsbury, NJ. Visitation will be from 2 pm to 6 pm on Sunday, July 27th at the Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, N.J. 08755. Her funeral will be on Monday July 28, 2025, assembling at 9:30 am at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. in St. Joseph 's Catholic Church, 685 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, N.J. 08753. Dottie was graduate of Boonton High School and attended Montclair Business School for a year. She was predeceased by her beloved of husband of 72 years Pasquale (Pat) Sodano and her parents, James and Mary Donofrio (nee: Voytac). She was a resident of Denville, N.J. for 26 years, before moving to Toms River, N.J. for 45 years. Dottie was a people oriented person and worked as a Receptionist, Accounts Receivable Clerk, and Volunteer Nurses Aide at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville. In addition, she had served as the Entertainment Manager at Diamond Spring Home for the Blind, and as a Preschool Teacher for the Jane Addams Day Care Center in Toms River and the Tender Care Nursery in Ocean Grove. She enjoyed singing for events, weddings, and acting in musical events. Over a 55 enjoyable year period, Dottie played the piano in her church choirs and Monmouth Civic Choirs. She was an active member of St Mary's Rosary Society in Denville and St Joseph's Toms River. She had fun with her husband and grandkids crabbing, fishing, enjoying events at the Italian American Club, VFW, attending the Freehold, NJ Horse Races & OTB, taking day trips to Atlantic City, and doing art crafts. Dottie was the devoted mother of Robert Sodano, Diana (nee: Sodano) Kloza, and Patricia (nee: Sodano) Leonard; she is also survived by her grandchildren Jason Sodano, Justin Sodano, Jessica (Leonard) Elsas, Austin Leonard, Kelsey Kloza, Lauren Kloza, and 9 great-grandchildren. Dottie is also survived by her dearest brother, Vincent Donofrio and was predeceased by her brothers, Albert Donofrio, William (Bill) Donofrio, Walter Donofrio, and Donald Donofrio.
