Edward F. Graichen age 88 of Silver Ridge Park West, Berkeley Twp. died peacefully Friday December 7th at Van Dyke Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Toms River. He was a bus driver for over 35 years with Somerset Bus Company and then New Jersey Transit before retiring in 1987. He was a parishioner of St. Maximilian Kolbe R. C. Church, Berkeley Twp. Edward born was in San Diego, CA and while his father was in the Navy stationed at Lakehurst he lived in Seaside Heights and attended Toms River High School. He enlisted in the Army during World War II and after being discharged he moved to Elizabeth and then to Toms River in 1959. To be closer to his work, he moved to North Plainfield in 1964 and upon his retirement to Jupiter, Fl for 17 years before moving to Silver Ridge Park West in 2004. Edward was a lifelong Yankee fan and a diehard Peyton Manning fan. He was predeceased by his 1st wife Ruth in 1973, his parents Edmund and Evelyn Graichen and his brother Gerald Graichen. Surviving are his wife Nikki, son Edward, Jr., 2 daughters Diane Rojek and Debbie Stazo, 5 grandsons Chad, Todd and Matthew Graichen, Adam and Charles Stazo, 5 great grandchildren Brianne, Cassidy, Benjamin, Kevin and Katie and his brother Michael Graichen .
Visiting will be Sunday from 3-7 pm at the Quinn Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Rd. Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10:30 am Monday at St. Maximilian Kolbe R. C. Church, Berkeley Twp. Burial will follow at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia.
