
Edward J. Gubernat, 92, of Toms River passed away on Friday January 13th, 2012 at Hamilton Place at the Pines in Whiting. Born in Newark, NJ he resided in Union prior to moving to Toms River. He had an abounding love and interest in music, especially the trumpet, which he played in the Cottage Club Band. He served in the U.S. Army with the 8th Div. Army Band, as Technician 4th Grade, from March 1941 to Sept. 1945. He retired from the Newark Post Office after 25 years of service. He was predeceased by his parents Helen and Andrew Gubernat. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 64 years, Emily Przybyla, and loving daughters Susan Gubernat, Denise and husband Jay Bobinski, Debra Gubernat, and Corinne and husband Ray Lengyel. Four cherished grandsons Max, Peter and Sam Bobinski and Zachary Malavenda; loving sisters Adele Swiecki and Lottie Laluk and dear nephews and nieces. He was a member of the Polish American Social Club, VFW Post 10185 and Silver Ridge Park North Men’s Club. Visitation will be Tuesday January 17th 2012 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Quinn Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road Toms River, NJ 08755. A Funeral Mass will be offered Wednesday January 18th, 2012 at 10:30am at St. Maximilian Kolbe R.C. Church Toms River. Interment will follow at the New Jersey Veteran’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at P.O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090.
