

Edward T. Steiniger, 74, of the Holiday City Heights section of Berkeley Township, passed away at home on Sunday, September 4, 2016, while surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bronx, NY, Edward lived in Saddle Brook, NJ for over 44 years before moving to Berkeley Township 2 and a half years ago. He was a US Veteran having served as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corp for 4 years. He worked as a terminal manager for Cirillo Bros. Inc. in Mt. Vernon, NY for 40 years. Edward loved people and giving back to his community. He was a volunteer coach of the Saddle Brook Girls soccer league for 20 years. In 2004, he served as the Grand Marshall for the Memorial Day parade in Saddle Brook and also worked as a crossing guard in Saddle Brook for 5 years. Edward was a communicant of St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church in Berkeley Township. He was a volunteer distributor for the Courier newspaper of Holiday City Heights and a proud member of the Marine Corp League of Toms River.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Diane M. Steiniger; two daughters, Elaine DiPalma and her husband Robert and Kara Coates and her husband Kevin and also 4 grandchildren; Isabella, Brian, Lily and Evan. He was an avid sports fan cheering on the Giants, Yankees and Devils. Most of all he loved cheering on his grandchildren as they played various sports.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road Toms River, NJ 08757. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at 10:30 AM at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church 130 St. Maximilian Lane, Toms River, NJ. Cremation will be private with burial at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ at a future date.
