

Born August 28, 1941, in Newark, NJ, he was a son of the late Joseph and Margaret Dipple Barker. Following his high school graduation, he pursued higher education, receiving a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia.
He met the love of his life, Susan while out dancing. They were married June 24, 1967, sharing 58 wonderful years of love, laughter, and devotion. Together, they raised their family in Flanders, NJ. Before retiring, he worked as an ironworker with Local 11, taking great pride in his work and the lasting contributions he made throughout his career.
His faith was an important part of his life, and he was a devoted member of Community Presbyterian Church in Chester, NJ, where he found lasting friendship, fellowship, and spiritual fulfillment.
An avid hunter and fisherman, he had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and the peace it brought him. Though he loved spending time in nature, nothing was more important to him than his family.
Edwin was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joseph Barker.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Susan Barker; son Christopher Barker and his wife, Kim; daughter Janice Barker; grandchildren, Lindsey and Ryan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, June 8, 2026 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road Toms River, NJ 08755. A funeral service will begin at 6:00 PM. Burial will follow Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at 11:30 am in the Westwood Cemetery, 23 Kinderkamack Rd, Westwood, NJ 07675.
