Ernest Lee Glenn, son of the late Sinclair and Pauline Glenn of Orangeburg, South Carolina, was born September 19, 1949 in Orangeburg, SC. He left South Carolina in his teen years and lived in Florida shortly before moving to Lakewood New Jersey, until his transitioning to be with the lord Thursday March 21, 2019.
Ernest was affectionately known by his middle name Lee. He was a master of carpentry, a mechanic, contracting and construction specializing in paving. He worked for Ritchie of R&G Paving for over 30 years retiring 10 years ago. He earned the title of best loop man any side of Jersey and all around Jack of all trades. In his free time he loved to fish, otherwise you could almost always catch him playing Spades or Tunk with family and tight friends. Talking trash often starting with the phrase “Look here Jackson!”
On July 29, 2011 Ernest Lee Glenn rededicated his life to the lord and was Baptiste here at New Life Christian Center in Lakewood New Jersey.
He was predeceased by his father and mother Sinclair and Pauline Glenn; his loving wife Carolyn Alston-Glenn; three sisters Carrie Lombardi, Thelma Wolf and Gloria Phonex; four brothers Hayvord Glenn, Marion Glenn, Sidney Glenn, and Joe Frank Glenn. He leaves to cherish his wonderful memory six Children Terricka Mintze of Clarksville, TN; Chad Glenn of Lancaster PA; Sammie Lee Glenn of Lakewood, NJ; Brian Glenn and his wife Toni-Ann of Browns Mills, NJ; Brad Glenn of Lancaster PA.; and Eartha Glenn-Taylor of Martinsburg WV.; two sisters Mary Lou (Vickie) Walker of Chester, VA.; Queen Ester Glenn of Lakewood NJ.; three brothers Harry Glenn of Bowman SC.; Pastor James and his wife Elect Lady Beryl Glenn of Wadesboro, NC.; and Sinclair Roy Glenn of Bowman SC. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing service will be held on Friday March 29, 2019 from 4-8 PM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road Toms River, NJ 08755 and Saturday March 30, 2019 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at New Life Christian Center 211 E. 4th St. Lakewood, NJ 08701 where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM.
