My father, Larry McCauley and Frank  were best buds way before it was fashionable to call it that.  They worked together in the Jersey City and Bayonne Thom McAn shoe stores back in the early 60's.  They were like Mutt and Jeff. They always had fun working together and playing pranks as they managed the store. But Frank and my father were from that "great generation" who did things the right way, the ethical way, the honest way.   I learned everything I needed to know about work and life from my father and Frank Anderson.   I had the honor of working with Frank during my later high school and college days.  I can vividly remember Frank saying, "I'll tell you a true story", and then you would listen and learn from truly a great man. I also remember Frank and my father's love for the bagpipes, especially "The Black Watch".  They travelled to Madison Square Garden a few times to watch them perform.  For them it was a religious experience.  To this day whenever I here the pipes I think of my father and Frank. Over the years as we all moved away from the city, and my father passed, Frank continued to call my mother and visit me to see how we were doing.  You felt so good after talking to him that you couldn't wait for the next visit.   
Knowing Frank and working with him was an honor.  He was one of the truly great men I have known in my life.  In plain english he was a "good guy" and the world certainly  needs more men like Frank.  But now Heaven has Frank and I know for certain my father is a happy man.  
I remember telling my father and Frank one night in the shoe store as we were closing up that my singing group and I were ending all our concerts and shows with a patriotic set of songs and finishing with God Bless America. Frank said, "you know Larry people don't sing that song enough, especially the young people"    Now whenever I hear that song or play that song I have another great man and great memory to be thankful for, Frank Anderson, God Bless You.

Mr. Anderson was the perpetual gentleman since the first time I met him as a little boy.  He made it apparent that he loved his family more than anything, and he was accepting and welcoming to anyone he met.  I can still hear his laugh and see his smile because it will always shine down on his daughter and grandson.  May he dance with his wife in Heaven until we can all see him again one day.  God Bless this amazing man for serving his country fearlessly, and may God let him Rest In Peace.



The Fifth Season

In the spring of life,
In the flower of youth,
Everything is bright and new.

In the summer of life,
Time of growth and change,
Each day brings new dreams to pursue.

In the autumn of life,
there's a settling down - 
Contentment and sureness in what we do.

In the winter of life,
Comes peace and wisdom,
Time to relax and reminisce, too -
But with the passing of these seasons,
Life is still not done, not through,
For there is yet another season,
When each spirit is renewed.
And it is in this calm fifth season,
In this hopeful second spring,
A time of cleansing and rebirth,
A time of new awakening.
Each person's life will come full circle,
Even as the seasons do,
To start another. different life,
Much better than the one we knew.

I'd like the memory of me
   to be a happy one,
I'd like to leave an afterglow
   of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo
   whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing
   times and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those
   who grieve, to dry before the sun.
Of happy memories that I leave
   when life is done.

Frank was a wonderful man.  I so enjoyed knowing him.  He left a lasting impression, his joy of live and his love for Susan, will always be how I remember him.  Everyone who met him was a friend for life.  Thank you Susan  for sharing your Dad with me.

I knew Frank primarily through his daughter Susan.  The stories she relayed about him while she was  growing up made me wish we all had fathers like Frank.  What I did know is that he took great pride in his service to our country and  he was a wonderful representative of our greatest generation.  Susan is an integral part of his legacy and he passed on the best aspects of his like to her.   May he rest in peace.

Frank, I’ve loved my big brother for all of my 89 years of life. I know you are happy in Heaven now, and that comforts me. I’ll see you again.
