Harold J. Rasmussen

Harold J. Rasmussen, 67, of Toms River, New Jersey, passed away on August 3, 2026. Born on June 20, 1959, in Long Branch, New Jersey, Harold will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who knew him.

From his earliest years, Harold carried an easy warmth—often met with a smile—and a steady, kind-hearted presence that put others at ease. He moved through life with a happy-go-lucky spirit, yet those closest to him also knew the strength behind it: a man who showed up, worked hard, and took pride in doing things the right way.

Harold spent many years at the Railroad, working on the tracks alongside his dad at the family business, Middletown & NJ Railroad Corporation. His dedication and reliability were evident in the long days and honest labor that defined his working life, and in the quiet loyalty he brought to the people and places that mattered to him.

Harold is survived by his brother and sister in law, Peter and Linda Rasmussen of NY and his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Pierre and Evelyn Rasmussen in 2003/2004 and his sister Helen in 2012.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026 from 9:30 am till 11:30 am at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ 08755. Interment will be private.

In remembering Harold, family and friends honor a beloved man whose goodness was felt in simple, steady ways—through his gentle heart, his willingness to work, and the lightness of spirit he carried with him throughout his life.
