

She was born on, June 27, 1933 in Lauenbrunn, Germany. Irene immigrated to the United States in 1950 and lived in upper Manhattan. After finishing her education, she started a career as a receptionist and translator in the Foreign Department of Prentice Hall publishing house.
She married William Otten in 1955, and they lived together in Staten Island NY for thirty-nine years before relocating to Toms River, NJ. Irene is survived by her loving husband William of more than sixty-six years, her son Ronald and daughter-in-law Maureen, and by her three grandchildren Alexander, Brendan and Madeline. Irene is also survived by her brother Fritz and by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and family members in the United States and in Germany.
Irene was an accomplished cook and homemaker. She enjoyed traveling, especially cruises to Bermuda. One of Irene’s highlights was reuniting with her family in Germany after not seeing them in over 40 years. Irene was immensely proud of her family as well as her US Citizenship & Naturalization. An avid reader, Irene was a fine, sweet and incredible wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and a friend to all she met. Irene will be remembered as a kind and loving person who will be greatly missed.
