

Irene Mary Wojcik, 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Complete Care at Green Acres in Toms River, NJ. Irene was born on August 4, 1928 in Passaic, NJ. She grew up in Wallington, NJ, having graduated from Lodi High School in 1947. She then became a warper in Passaic, NJ and later a packer for Mada, Inc. in Carlstadt, NJ.
Irene was an avid sports fanatic. She loved the New York Mets and would take her family to games at Shea Stadium. Her biggest joy was the New York Giants. She was passionate, stubborn and you could never tell her anything bad about HER Giants. Being a season ticket holder she also would take her family, sitting in her car eating sandwiches and drinking hot toddies. One of her greatest gifts was when she received an autographed football for her 80th birthday signed by Eli Manning. That was something she cherished and would brag that she had !
Irene was predeceased by her parents Michael and Mary Wojcik; her brothers Stanley, Edward and Walter; nephews Edward and Wayne Wojcik; niece Lenore Wojcik. She is survived by her loving sister, Helen Modla Turano and husband Lou of Whiting, NJ and her brother Matthew Wojcik and his wife Julie of Toms River, NJ.; her nieces, Maryellen and Don Magrini, Beth Ann and Carl Valenti, Christine and Al Gerritsen and Lisa and Doug DeTardo, Joan Drapala; nephews, Daniel, Mark and Michael Wojcik. Also survived by many many great and great-great nieces and nephews all who love and will miss her. Also her lifelong friend Sophie Mazurkiewicz of Great Neck, Long Island.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday February 15, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road Toms River, NJ 08755. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday February 16, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Most Sacred Heart of Jesus RC Church, 127 Paterson Road, Wallington, NJ 07057. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery 120 Saddle River Road, South Hackensack, NJ 07606. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.quinn-hoppingfh.com.
