James P. Basciano, 91, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on Thursday January 26, 2017 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. James was born and raised on Dean St. in Brooklyn, NY. He served in the US Navy in 1944 in Okinawa. He worked as a mason for many years for the New York City Department of Parks. James was a member of the George P. Vanderveer American Legion Post #129 in Toms River, NJ.
James was a loving husband to his wife, Prudence Basciano; a loving father to his daughters Connie Muffaletto and Sandy O’Leary; a loving grandfather to Joseph, Nicholas, Melissa and Danny; and a dearest brother to his sisters Mary and Jean.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday January 30, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ 08755. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday January 31, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Toms River, NJ.
