

James M. O'Brien, 77, of the Silver Ridge Park Westerly section of Berkeley Twp. passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at his home. Born in Hoboken, he lived in Middletown for 10 years prior to moving to Berkeley Twp. 6 years ago. James was a veteran of the US Army. He was a teacher for the Hoboken Board of Education for 37 years retiring in 1996. He also was a realtor broker for many years having most recently been working for Century 21 Nifoussi Realty in Toms River. He was the past president of the Hoboken Education Assoc. of Retired Teachers. He was the president of the Men's Club of Silver Ridge Park Westerly as well as member of the Board of Trustees.
James is survived by his wife of 15 years, Betty Lou O'Brien; his son, James M. O'Brien of Toms River; his daughter, Marie Alfano of Morganville and 4 grandchildren; two brothers, Dennis and Thomas O'Brien; his sister, Margaret Brackett and also several nieces and nephews. He also is survived by Betty's 3 sons and their wives, Ian and Kristy Fowlie of MD, Jamie and Crystal Fowlie of CA, Alexander and Rachel Fowlie of Hillsborough and her 5 grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Friday, June 27th at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Toms River at 10:30 AM. Final disposition will be held at a later date at the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Silver Ridge Park First Aid Squad.
