Joanne Elizabeth Rainey

January 2, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Paterson, NJ, Joanne had lived in

Lincoln Park until moving to the Toms River area in 1977. Joanne was an Administrative Assistant for

Sears, Lakewood for over 20 years and also worked for Comcast in Toms River after her retirement from

Sears.

Joanne was predeceased by her loving husband Gardiner “Jack” in 2018 and is survived by her devoted

children; Michael and his wife Liza, Lauren Gerding, Karen Zaros and her husband John, six grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, her brother Edward Gustenhoven and his wife Barbara, her sister Nanci Mengersen and her husband Ronald and her beloved dog, Tobey, and forever friend, Skippy. She also leaves behind her loving and compassionate caregiver, Linda.

Mom was a lover of animals and travel. Her favorite place to visit was Cape Cod, where she enjoyed

many trips to Martha’s Vineyard. She enjoyed broadway shows and concerts, and her greatest joy were

her children and family and creating lasting memories during the holiday season.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2021 from 4-8 pm at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26

Mule Rd., Toms River. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Friday, January 8, 2021 10 am at the

funeral home. Interment will follow to Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery,

Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Joanne’s name to the Popcorn Park Zoo, 1

Humane Way, Forked River, NJ 08731.
