

John Latwis, a beloved and compassionate husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on November 2, 1947, in Jersey City to the late John and Theresa Latwis, John was a generous and hard-working man who left a lasting legacy.
John was raised in Jersey City, NJ, and raised his family in Spotswood, NJ. He proudly served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War, a testament to his dedication and patriotism. Following his military service, John worked as a repairman for Xerox for 35 years, serving all over the state of New Jersey.
He was married to the love of his life, Bernice, and is survived by her, as well as their son, Brian Latwis, and his wife, Kimberley. John was a devoted grandfather to his two granddaughters, Abigail and Olivia. He was predeceased by his sister, Dolores Latwis.
John had a passion for drinking whiskey, smoking cigars, and enjoyed shooting and hunting. He loved watching sports, especially football, but most importantly, he cherished spending time with his granddaughters. Known for being super generous and loving with his family, John's legacy of kindness and love will be remembered by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026, from 4-8 pm at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, located at 26 Mule Rd., Toms River, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 11:30 am at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Toms River, with interment to follow at the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
