John J. Maestri, 99, of Toms River, NJ passed away on Wednesday May 20, 2026 at his home while surrounded by his loving family. Born in Manhattan, NY John grew up in Brooklyn and then lived in Upstate NY before moving to Toms River 20 years ago. John was a WW II Army veteran having served in the 188th Parachute Infantry. He retired as a payroll processing agent for the United States Post Office on 8th Ave in NYC after 25 years service.
John was predeceased by his wife Theresa and his sisters Marion and Melba.
He is survived by his daughters Michele and Denise Maestri and his son Matthew and his wife Rosann Maestri and his grandchildren Stephanie and Michael.
Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday May 26, 2026 at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road Toms River, NJ 08755. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday May 27, 2026 at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church 130 St. Maximilian Lane Toms River, NJ 08757. Burial will be at Ashokan Rural Cemetery 118-120 Mountain Road Shokan, NY 12481. In lieu of flowers please make donations in John’s memory to the charity of your own choice.
