John Augustine Saltarelli, 87, of Toms River passed away on Monday March 17th, 2014 at home. Born and raised in Jersey City to Maria (Amoroso) and Gabriele he moved to Old Bridge in 1963 and raised his family. He graduated from Dickenson High School in Jersey City and was a World War II Army Veteran serving from 1945 to 1946. He worked for Gibbs & Cox in NYC for 40 years and retired to Toms River in 1987. John was devoted to his wife and family, enjoyed listening to music, especially Frank Sinatra and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He also enjoyed bowling and was a devoted Yankee fan. John was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years Helen Sutton-Saltarelli and siblings Jimmy, Rafie, Rosie, Josie, Anna and Theresa. Surviving are his children Rosanne and husband Kevin Dwyer of Oceanport, NJ, John and wife Susan Saltarelli of Barnegat, NJ, Gabriel and wife Sheri Saltarelli of Cranbury, NJ and Joseph and wife Kimberley Saltarelli of Pleasant Valley, NY, grandchildren Erin and husband Jimmy Alvarez, Ashley and husband Mike Murawinski, Ryan, Benjamin, Annabella, Katherine, Katrianna, Leland and Isabella, brothers Danny and Tony and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday March 20th, 2014 from 2-4pm & 7-9pm at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ 08755. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday March 21st, 2014 at 10:30am at St. Maximilian Kolbe R.C. Church in Berkeley Township, NJ.
