Joseph R. Parella
February 6, 1925 – January 29, 2020
Joseph R. Parella, 94, of Berkeley Twp., NJ passed away on Wednesday January 29, 2020. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Joseph had lived in Jersey City before moving to the Toms River area in 1989. Joseph was a WWII Army Veteran in the 13th Airborne and 101st Airborne and was a recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a VFW member, and also belonged to the Holiday City Men’s Club. Joseph was a Metalurgist for Bennett Heat Treating Company, Newark.
Joseph was predeceased by his brother Michael Parella and is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Catherine (Monaco) , his two children; Robert Parella and his wife Denise, Joan Boniello and her husband Carmine, his six grandchildren; Jeffrey, Lauren, Alex, Thomas, Justin, Joseph and his five great grandchildren; Ciro, Louis, Leo, Maci and Teagan. Joseph is also survived by his brother Edward Parella.
Visitation will be held Sunday February 2, 2020 at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Rd., Toms River, NJ 08755 from 1-4 pm with a Mass of Christian burial to be held on Monday February 3, 2020 at 10:30 am at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church. Entombment will follow at the Forest Green Park Cemetery, Morganville, NJ.
