Born in Hamburg, Germany, he resided in Closter before settling in Toms River in 1995.
Prior to retiring in 1997, he was a jack of all trades. He primarily worked as a mechanic for various different companies and worked hard his whole life. He would come to the aid of anyone who needed help and loved all animals, befriending the chipmunks, squirrels, birds, rabbits, and deer who came to visit daily. He also loved planting and growing his garden every year.
Surviving are his loving wife of 47 years, Ruth; his daughter, Lisa Gentile and her husband Kurt; his son, Robert Friedrichs; and his childhood friend, Sonny Denys.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 1-4PM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River. Cremation will be held privately.
