Born in Perth Amboy, NJ, Lois went to grammar school in Poughkeepsie, NY. In her teens her family moved to Fords, NJ where she graduated from Woodbridge High School in 1945. She was a chemist at Merck and Co in Rahway, NJ, doing micro-analytical analysis from 1945 until her retirement.
In 1948 she married Alfonso “Chick” DeFillipo and settled in South Plainfield, NJ. In 1992 they moved to Toms River, NJ. They also bought a home in North Hutchinson Island, FL and became snowbirds.
Lois and her husband traveled throughout the United States in their 5th wheel trailer and also traveled extensively throughout Europe. Lois enjoyed ballroom dancing, swimming, tennis and bridge. She was extremely competitive and won many awards for these activities. In her mid 80’s she went skydiving and at her 90th birthday party in Florida she was affectionately labeled the “Dancing Queen”.
Lois was predeceased by her husband Alfonso. She is survived by her sister Joyce Colucci.
Visiting hours will be from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Sunday November 10, 2024 at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road Toms River, NJ 08755. A funeral service will take place at 1:30 pm. Burial will be on Monday November 11, 2024 at 11:00 am at Ocean County Memorial Park 1722 Silverton Road Toms River, NJ 08753.
