Lorraine M. Rundle, 91, of Port Orange, Florida, formerly of Toms River, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday. She was a wonderful, moral, dedicated and loving mother, wife and grandmother. She was born in Newark, NJ and lived in Bloomfield, NJ before moving to Toms River in 1964. Prior to retiring, Mrs. Rundle was a Business Teacher at Monsignor Donovan High School for 12 years, where she taught Typing, Shorthand, Business Law, Consumer Economics, Computers and other courses. She simultaneously served as the High School Yearbook Advisor and FBLA Advisor. She was also a realtor at Century 21 Nifoussi Realty in Toms River, NJ prior to retiring. After retirement, she enjoyed spending her time with her family, and also taking trips to Atlantic City especially to play the penny slot machines.
Earlier in her life, after graduating from Bloomfield High School and early in her marriage up to the time her first child was born, for almost 10 years Mrs. Rundle worked as a secretary and later as a supervisor for the New Jersey Bell Telephone Company. Upon starting a family, Mrs. Rundle was a wonderful, dedicated stay-at-home mother who was very involved with her children, husband and home. She served many times as a Class Mother for her daughters' elementary school classes, and attended PTA meetings. An excellent cook and baker, she cooked delicious meals every night for her family. She was gifted at crocheting, knitting and sewing and taught these skills to her two daughters, often knitting and crocheting hats, gloves, sweaters and vests for her husband and daughters, and making dresses and pant suits for her two girls and herself. She was also a talented bowler, participating in a ladies bowling league and winning several trophies for her high scores and bowling acumen.
When her children were in the upper grades, she studied real estate and became a realtor. She worked part-time as a realtor to keep busy while her children were at Intermediate and High School. She also earned her Broker's license.
When her youngest child was in Intermediate School, Lorraine and her late husband, Albert, commenced and graduated from Ocean County College where they both earned Associates degrees. They both continued their college education at Trenton State College, where Lorraine graduated with a B.S. in Business and Business Education. After graduation, she taught at Monsignor Donovan High School.
Lorraine was a communicant at St. Joseph's RC Church, Toms River.
Lorraine was predeceased in 2008 by her wonderful and loving husband of 54 years, Albert Rundle. She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl & Peter Borowski of Toms River and Gail & Joseph Pizzuto of Florida and her four grandchildren, Joseph Jr., Kristen, Matthew and Megan. Also surviving are her loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitations will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, October 1, 2023 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Rd., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 2, 2023 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Hooper Ave., Toms River. Interment will follow at the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
