Born in Cuba, Miguel immigrated to the United States at age 17 through Operation Pedro Pan and proudly served in the United States Army.
Gregarious, warm, and full of life, Miguel never met a stranger. Everyone who met him was instantly charmed by his ability to make them feel welcome and connected. He loved to laugh, make others laugh, and turn even the simplest encounter into a friendship.
Miguel spent many years in the hospitality industry, where his outgoing personality was a natural fit. Even his final job delivering for DoorDash reflected his love of meeting people and brightening their day. He loved music and dancing, always finding joy in life's simple pleasures.
Miguel also had a deep love of nature and the outdoors. He especially enjoyed spending time at the beach, fishing along the Jersey Shore, and appreciating the beauty and tranquility of the natural world. In his younger years, he loved tooling around in his RV, exploring new places and enjoying the freedom of the open road.
Above all, Miguel cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Verdugo; his sons, Christopher Verdugo and Michael Verdugo; his daughter, Michelle Verdugo Ninos; and his adored grandchildren, Sebastian Ninos and Penelope Ninos.
Miguel will be remembered for his infectious laughter, generous spirit, and extraordinary ability to make everyone feel like they belonged.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ.
