Dominica (Minnie) Rose Banfitch, 80, of Toms River passed away Saturday February 25th, 2012 at Compassionate Care Hospice in Trenton surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Paterson on August 23, 1931 to Pauline and John Picarelli where she grew up with her three sisters, Annette, Marie and Susan. She resided there until she married her beloved husband, of 52 years, Andrew in June 1959.
They started their family in Bloomingdale, NJ and later moved to Pompton Lakes, NJ where they raised their two daughters, Debbie and Sherri. When Debbie and Sherri married their husbands Jonathan and Rick, she gained two sons.
Minnie and Andrew decided to retire to Toms River, NJ in June 1994. There they met and made many close friends and enjoyed traveling, summer days at the Jersey Shore and visiting with their grandchildren Amy, Molly, Tyler, Connor and Courtney and watching them grow. She also belonged to the H.C.S.R. Italian American Club.
Minnie was a loving, giving and supportive Nana, Mom, Wife and Sister. Whether it was her weekley calls to her college-age grandkids to provide love and support from afar, or her never ending prayers to Saint Anthony whenever there was a bump in the road, Minnie gave unselfishly. She was a very loyal Yankee fan, a passion she shared with her sisters.
Minnie was a beautiful woman inside and out. Her love for the Lord and her family permeated every aspect of her life.
Visitation will be Monday February 27th, 2012 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at The Quinn Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road Toms River, NJ 08755.
