Nina Borrelli of Toms River, born June 19, 1929, passed away Saturday January 12th. Her parents Savario and Graziella Guariscio immigrated to the US from Sicily as children. She grew up on the north shore of Staten Island NY and is a Port Richmond High School graduate. She met her husband Gene soon after his return from Europe at the end of WWII and married on Thanksgiving 1948. They were married for just over 70 years.
She lived on Staten Island in the family compound built by her father until moving to Toms River in 1985. While living on Staten Island she was active in the PTA and became its president. She and Gene were co-presidents of Staten Square Set, a square dance group that did a lot of traveling together throughout the North East and West Coast. She had a successful career with Manufacturers Hanover in an administrative position supporting the bond traders. After moving to Toms River, she and Gene were active in the Italian American club, becoming co-presidents.
She was predeceased by an older brother Louis Guarascio, and an older sister Mildred Costanzo. She is survived by Gene, her husband of 70 years; sons Eugene and Roy; grandchildren, Eugene, Kenny, Kathleen, Lisa and Roy Jr. (RJ); great grandchildren Alexander, Braden, and Lilian; step great grandsons Julian and Sebastian; and step great great grandson Aiden. She will be missed by all.
Visiting will be Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Rd, Toms River NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offer 9:30 am Saturday at St Maximillian Kolbe Church, 130 St Maximillian lane, Toms River NJ. Cremation will be private.
