Peter J. McGowan

Peter J. McGowan, 75, of Toms River, passed away Thursday October Oct 25,, 2012 at the Van Dyke Hospice Unit at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Teaneck, NJ and raised in Edgewater, he lived in Hawthorne, NJ for over 30 years prior to moving to Toms River 12 years ago. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He was a retired mail carrier having worked for the US Postal Service in Englewood, NJ. Peter absolutely loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Murphy McGowan; two daughters, Kelly Smith and her husband Mark of Hawthorne, NJ and Karen Ryan and her husband Bill of Oxford, NJ; his four grandchildren Caitlin, Faith, Katie, and Connor; his sister Mary Madigan and her husband Steve of Red Bank, NJ

Visiting hours will be on Saturday October 27, 2012 from 10:30 to 12:00 PM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ 08755. A funeral service will take place at 12 Noon. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Van Dyke Hospice at Community Medical Center or to the charity of one’s own choice.
