Mr Tenewitz was my favorite teacher at Columbia.  He inspired so many of us.

Mr. Tenewitz was one of my favorite teachers in Columbia High School.  I was one of about ten students in his A.P. math class in 1970, and we all did well because of his brilliant and caring guidance.

Great teacher and a great inspiration.  That's all I can say.

I was so sad to see the obit of Mr. Tenewitz-- he was my calculus teacher at Columbia in 1970-71. What an outstanding teacher, and the nicest guy!

Pete was a true visionary when it came to designing curriculum in mathematics. Under his leadership, Columbia High School was already 85% in compliance with the NCTM Standards before they were even released. He was my Mathematics Department Chair from 1980 - 1991. Even more important to me is that I met my future wife in his Honors Geometry class when the two of us were sophomores.

As a student and a teacher at Columbia, I will always have fond memories of Pete. He was a gentleman and a wonderful leader of the math department who helped guide the district into the new age of technology. His presence will be missed by all who he touched as a teacher, colleague or friend. RIP.

I had Mr. Tenewitz for math in the 60"s. I wasn't the best math student but remember him as a teacher who helped me get through the process of learning math. Now almost 35 years later I have been a teacher. I thank him for his service to our country and his patience as a teacher.

I met Pete shortly after I arrived at Newark Academy in 1974.  Pete shared with me some insights on being a department chair and also introduced me to Angelo Pantazes.  Pete was always a positive person and a positive influence.  He WILL be missed.   - Bill Blaskopf

He was one of my coaches on the football team at Columbia H.S.  He was always a positive instructor and had the genuine respect of the team.
