

He was born in South Williamsport PA, and lived most his life in PA.
He joined the Marines at age 18. He served in Korea as a staff Sergeant in charge of confidential information. He returned to Camp Pendleton in Oceanside CA, where he married Betty Miller.
He was employed by the A&P grocery chain as a manager for 51 years. After retiring, he moved to Moscow PA where he became a crossing guard for the North Pocono School System for 15 years.
He was a member of the Moscow United Methodist Church where he participated in several church dinner plays.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Marie Swartz, his ex wife Betty Miller (Ridenour). Three children, Richard and Donna Swartz, Barbara (Swartz) and Jay Schlegel, and Michael Swartz. Seven grandchildren, Steven, AJ, Jessica, Nicole, Jonathan, Branden, and Kyle. Also surviving are his thirteen great grandchildren, Brendon, Caleb, Kylie, Cameron, Brayden, Gabriella, Gavin, Landon, Maddox, Ava, Maliah, Elliot and Avalon.
A visitation will be held at Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, located at 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ 08755-5028, on November 3, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
The funeral service will also take place at Quinn Hopping Funeral Home on November 3, 2025, from 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm.
