

Born in Perth Amboy, he resided in Old Bridge, Spotswood, and Succasunna before settling in Toms River 2 years ago.
Prior to retiring, he was a Union Carpenter, having most recently worked for the Local 608 in New York City. A 9/11 survivor, he was present during the terrorist attacks and made it onto the last train leaving the city to return to his family. Rob also worked on the city cleanup to restore ground zero, and later on the construction of the Freedom Tower. Additionally, he restored the Statue of Liberty.
Rob was an avid fisherman, and loved going on his boat to crab. He also loved to cook, and would be grilling regardless of the weather. Rob was always laughing and loved to make everyone around him laugh and smile.
Rob was predeceased by his loving wife of 32 years, Dolores "Dee" (Montesano) Dower in 2016; his brother-in-law, David Weir; and his sister-in-law, Maryellen Dower.
Surviving are his children: Megan Ryzner-Meredith and her husband Brandon, Robert T. Dower, Jr. and his wife Lauren, Michael Dower, and Shannon Dower and her boyfriend Cesar; 4 grandchildren: Kyle, Chloe, Chelsea, and Dolores; a sister, Maureen Weir; a brother, Harold Dower; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 2-4 & 7-9PM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday at 10AM at St. Joseph RC Church, Toms River, NJ. Interment will immediately follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway, NJ.
Memorial contributions may be made in Rob's name to the Local 157 Carpenter's Benefit Fund in Manhattan, to assist their members in receiving the benefits they deserve.
