

Rosaria (Sadie) Frisaro was born in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, New York on August 9,1926. She was 97 years old when she passed on August 24th, surrounded by her family. Rosaria graduated from James Madison High School in Brooklyn, New York in 1944. She received her Bachelors of Science degree from Long Island University in 1948, and a Masters Degree in Science Education from the City College of New York in 1969. She taught high school biology at Bay Ridge High School in Brooklyn before moving to Rockland County, New York. She continued teaching biology at Clarkstown North and then Clarkstown South High Schools from 1957 until 1987, when she retired. Upon retirement, Rosaria moved to Toms River, New Jersey, with her husband, Leonard.
For 62 years Rosaria was a loving and devoted wife to her late husband, Leonard, who passed away in 2011. They raised four children together: son Leonard and wife Pat Frisaro, of Birmingham, AL; daughter Maureen and husband Douglas Platt, of Island Heights, NJ; son Joseph and wife Freida Frisaro of Cooper City, FL; and daughter Rosemary and husband Brian Kessler, of Manhattan, NY. She had 8 grandchildren, Heather (Martin),James (Melissa), Douglas (Melissa, deceased), Thomas (Caitlin), Kristina (John, fiancé ),Jacob, Alexandra (AJ, fiance') and Nicholas. She also had 5 great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Dylan, Daniella, Evelyn and Leo.
Rosaria is predeceased by her parents Camillo and Josephine Messina, as well as her brothers Anthony, Andrew and Joseph, and her sister Grace. She adored her many nieces and nephews. Rosaria was very proud of her Sicilian roots and especially enjoyed cooking Italian meals.
Rosaria was well loved by her family, friends, neighbors and students. She was an avid social organizer, card player, reader, music lover and dancer. She enjoyed the theater and trips to museums. She was also involved in the churches she attended: St. Augustine's Church in New City, New York, and St. Maximilian Kolbe, in Toms River, New Jersey. Rosaria was a great conversationalist and a true friend; people were drawn to her kindness, her happy demeanor, her generosity of spirit and her sense of humor.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, August 28, 2023 from 4-7 PM at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Rd., Toms River, NJ. A Mass of Christian burial will be on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 12:00 PM at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, 130 St. Maximilian Lane Toms River with entombment to follow to Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
