Sarah Lorraine Francis

She was born June 27, 1936, in Newark, NJ. A gifted student, she graduated as valedictorian of Harrison High School Class of 1952, an achievement that reflected her intelligence, determination, and lifelong love of learning. She shared 40 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Roger Francis, former owner of Harrison Cab Co. Inc., until his passing February 26, 1996.

She embraced life with a spirited sense of fun and was rarely one to shy away from a good time. Her favorite color was blue, and she made sure it reflected in every part of her life. When it came to choosing a home, the exterior simply had to be blue. From the walls of her home to the cars she drove, blue was always close at hand. She enjoyed indulging in chocolate and was a devoted fan of QVC, always eager to discover a good find and place an order or two. She also never missed the opportunity to watch WWE wrestling, especially when Roman Reigns was in the ring. Known for her mischievous sense of humor and knack for stirring up harmless trouble, she kept those around her laughing. Whether spending time with family and friends or enjoying a lively gathering, she was truly a party animal at heart and will be remembered for the joy and laughter she brought into the lives of others.

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Alexander Rodger.

She will be missed by her son Mark Francis and his wife, Angela; daughter Laurie Valente; grandchildren Matthew Francis; Braden Francis; Olivia Francis; Jessie “Sissy” Zitzman and her husband, Tony; Gavin Valente and his partner, Lauren; Nicholus Valente and his wife, Sam; great-grandchildren Katlin Tice; Damien Zitzman; Anthony Romano; Dawn Zitzman & Daphnee Zitzman; great-great grandchildren; Sienna, Savea, and Star.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 26, 2026 at 5:30 p.m. from Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road Toms River, NJ 08755.

Family and friends may call for visitation hours from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
