
Stanley “Uncle Pat” Gardner, “Uncle Pat” as he was affectionately known to everyone, age 90 passed away peacefully on November 9th. He was predeceased by his parents Lizzy and Stanley Gardner, his brother William and sister Betty. He is survived by his sister Florence Pentz of NY and several nieces and nephews.
Uncle Pat had a military career and retired as Chief Petty Officer aboard the USS Suribachi. He next moved to Elizabeth to be near his sister Betty and worked for the Elizabeth Post office until retiring in 1978. He then moved to Berkley Township to be near family. He served many years as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church. He was a Literacy Volunteer. He chaperoned many student trips for the Lakewood Middle School. Stanley also volunteered at Holiday Manor.
Stanley had a big heart and an extremely generous nature, quick with a smile and a joke.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday, November 12, 2012, at Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church in Toms River, NJ. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown, NJ . Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.quinnhoppingfh.com
