

Wilbert G. "Bill" Short, 86, of the Holiday City Berkeley section of Toms River, passed away Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at Community Medical Center, Toms River, after many years of increasing failing health. He was born in Newark and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he met his beloved wife, Peggy, who predeceased him in January 2009. Bill and Peggy lived many years in Lyndhurst before retiring to the Toms River area in 2006. Bill retired 23 years ago after a long and successful career in credit and finance. He was a Free and Accepted Mason and member of Adoniram Lodge No. 80 F&AM in Lyndhurst, where he held the honorary degree of Tyler Emeritus. He also unselfishly served his community in volunteer work for 25 years with the Lyndhurst Police Emergency Squad.
Surviving are his two children, Margie Kraemer and Bob Short; their spouses, Andy Kraemer and Lorraine Short; three grandchildren, Laura Ferrara-Buldowski, Douglas Short, and Michael Short; two great-grandchildren, Torrie and Matthew Ferrara; and a sister-in-law, Edith Conrad in Germany. He also leaves fond memories with his loyal caregivers, Valentina Zaccone and Valentina Kiss.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, with a service beginning at 2 p.m. at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home of Toms River, 26 Mule Road. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Bill's name to the Masonic Club of Lyndhurst, 316 Riverside Ave., Lyndhurst, NJ 07071.
