Zenia J. Murray

Zenia Javellana Murray, 85, a resident of Manchester, NJ passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family on January 11, 2023. She was born to the late Manuel Javellana and Estrella Tolentino on March 6, 1937 in Manapla, Negros Occidental, Philippines. Zenia received her nursing degree from Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Hospital, Bacolod City. She was a registered nurse and worked in hospice at Cabrini Medical Center in New York City until her retirement. Zenia was a dedicated wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt.

Zenia was predeceased by her husband, James Murray, her best friend, Neil Samson, and her adopted daughter, Marsha Opalach. She is survived by her daughters, Laura Murray, Enna Murray and Zenia “Happy” Murray (partner Tara Lopez); her grandchildren, Camille Murray and Emmanuel Cooper; and treasured members of her family here and in the Philippines. She also leaves behind her dear puppy, Luna.

A memorial gathering celebrating Zenia’s life will be held on Saturday, January 14th from 2:00 - 5:00pm at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ 08755.

In lieu of flowers, Zenia, a breast cancer survivor, requested donations to the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research.
