She was a devoted wife to Domenico (predeceased), loving mother to Michelina (Anthony, predeceased), and Mike (Alanna), and beloved Nonna to Daniela (Matthew) and Elisa. She was adored by her great grandchildren Anthony and Michaela who affectionately called her “Nonna Angie”.
Predeceased by her parents (Libero and Maria De Carlo) and her siblings (Francesco and Rosa), she had looked forward to reuniting with them in heaven. She will be fondly remembered and forever cherished by her nieces and nephews in Toronto, across the United States and Italy, and by very dear longtime family friends in Vancouver, BC.
She came to Canada as a young woman, and immediately went to work. She quickly sought to earn her Canadian citizenship – she was a proud Canadian until the very end, and instilled a love for the country in her children and grandchildren. Her home was always a welcoming spot – there was always room at her table for extra relatives, family friends, and friends of her children. She would loving spend hours preparing meals, as she delighted in nourishing her family and sharing an abundance of good food with those who came to visit – this was her way of showing love and care to others. She always enjoyed a good joke, and was full of stories to share from her younger days. She valued education, and while growing up during WW2 did not allow her to complete as much formal education as she wished, she kept herself informed about news, politics and global affairs, and was always happy to learn new things. Above all, she taught her children and grandchildren to stand up for themselves, and to always show compassion and kindness, particularly to those in need. While we will miss her dearly, we will find comfort just thinking of her beautiful smile and infectious laugh.
