Predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Gordon Fraser.
Barbara Anne Marshall was born on July 9, 1929 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Barbara graduated from Northern Vocational School (North Toronto) in 1945 in Accountancy/Matriculation. As a young person, she enjoyed golfing and skiing. She worked at Union Carbide Canada Limited for 20 years, ultimately as secretary to the Chairman of the Board.
She and Gordon were married in 1952 and spent nearly 53 wonderful years together.
Barbara had 22 years of service with the Government of the Province of Ontario and had the honour of serving as executive assistant to two Lieutenant Governors, The Honourable John B. Aird and The Honourable Lincoln Alexander respectively, for the period of 1981 to 1989 inclusive. During that time, she was an active member of the Federal/Provincial Task Force on Royal Visits, travelled with their Honours to visit Ontarians in various remote locations in Northern Ontario, and contributed many hours to various organizations for physically and mentally challenged children, including the Easter Seals, Variety Village, and the Hugh MacMillan Centre. She retired in 1989.
She loved their cottage in Haliburton, was an avid reader, enjoyed handicrafts and was an active, charter member of Bayview United Church. Barbara was a very caring person, with a good sense of humour, a loving wife and a loyal and true friend. She will be missed.
A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 10 am on Thursday May 30, 2024, visitation for one hour prior from 9 am at the Kane-Jerrett North York Funeral Home, 6191 Yonge Street, followed by interment in York Cemetery.
