Carolyn Ruth Chesney

Carolyn is survived by her loving husband Tom Gabor, and two sons Jason and Aaron. Daughter of Dorothy Chesney and the late Boyd Chesney. Dear sister of Ted Chesney (the late Mary Cunnin) and Cathy Gaboury (Gary), sister-in-law of Rob Gabor (Sue Riggs) and treasured aunt of Adam and Sheldon Gaboury, Jennifer Jobb (Ethan), and Ethan and Annie Gabor.

Carolyn will be sorely missed by her furry family members - Cashmere, Mr. Moose, Maxxwell and Mac.

Born in London, Ontario, Carolyn graduated from Western University with an Honours Business Degree and was still active in her fraternity, Kappa Alpha Theta. She then attained a CA/CPA. Carolyn was an impactful, passionate financial executive with several companies, most recently as CFO of Delmanor Retirement Homes. She focused her boundless energy to make all her peers, subordinates and the organizations she led better.

Carolyn had a generous spirit, embraced life and lived it to the fullest, every day. Her career took her from Toronto to Vancouver to Houston and back. Her love for travel took her all around the world to over 50 countries. Intelligent and keen are the words that defined Carolyn’s existence. She loved to try new things and explore the unknown. She loved to garden, waterski, alpine ski, kayak, dragonboat, attend the theatre and so much more. The Chesney cottage near Parry Sound was the background to summers in her youth and then continued with her children and extended family with legendary family card games, board games and comradery.

Carolyn’s commitment to Family, Friends and Co-workers will be treasured by all those that knew her. Carolyn’s community was vast and ever-expanding.

No farewell words were spoken. Her absence leaves such a big hole in so many lives. You will never be forgotten.

Friends may call at the Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home at 6191 Yonge St. North York on Thursday August 29, 2024 from 12 noon until time of the memorial service which will be held in the chapel at 2:00 pm.
