Dave Ornon Nicholls was born on September 1st, 1972, in Toronto, Ontario, and sadly passed away on February 23rd, 2025, at the age of 52 due to complications from cancer. In his final days, he was surrounded by his loved ones and remained steadfast in his faith, trusting in the Lord until his last breath.
Dave was a devoted man of God, always eager to serve through his work in Audio & Video at his beloved church, Voz de Restauración. His faith was the foundation of his life, and he dedicated himself to spreading joy, wisdom, and kindness to those around him. He was known for his incredible sense of humor, bringing light and laughter wherever he went. But beyond his jokes and warm spirit, he was a man who listened, gave advice, and was always ready to lend a helping hand. His absence leaves a profound void, but those who knew him are forever grateful for the time they shared with him.
Born to Ottalese and Ornon Nicholls, Dave was a beloved brother to his older sister, Deborah Nicholls, and younger sister, Kimberly Nicholls. He was also a cherished uncle to his many nieces and nephews: Christopher, Daniella, and Jayden (children of Deborah); Seantae and Ronnie (children of Kimberly); and great-uncle to Christian, Jacob, and Rahim. He loved them deeply, and they, in turn, adored him.
He was a devoted husband to his high school sweetheart, Lupita Nicholls. Their love story began in grade 11, and from the moment they met, they knew they would spend their lives together. Married for 30 beautiful years, their love was a testament to faith and devotion. Together, they built a life filled with love and joy, raising two wonderful children: Isaiah Nicholls (28) and Brianna Nicholls (24). As a father, Dave was unwavering in his love and support, always placing his family first and instilling in them the values of faith, kindness, and resilience.
Through his marriage to Lupita, Dave gained additional family whom he cherished. He was a beloved son-in-law to Rosa Rivera and Rafael Campos, the loving parents of Lupita and her siblings. He was a beloved brother-in-law to Cesar, Soraya, Remberto(husband of Soraya), Claudia, and Eduardo Rivera. He also became an uncle to more nieces and nephews: Catalina and Natalia (daughters of Claudia) and Elijah and Genesis (children of Eduardo). He loved them dearly, and they loved him just as much. He was a cherished brother and uncle whose presence will be greatly missed.
Dave was also a proud grandfather to Jewels, a Chihuahua who held a special place in his heart. Though he often pretended she was "just a dog," he had an immense love for her. They shared a special bond, always looking for each other whenever Dave came home from work.
Beyond his immediate family, Dave had a vast extended family in both blood and Christ. He made a lasting impact on those he grew up with, sharing cherished memories and lifelong bonds. He was deeply loved by many people, and his presence will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
Dave grew up in the Lawrence Heights area and attended Bathurst Heights High School, where he discovered his passion for basketball, drawing, and graphic arts. He later pursued graphic design at George Brown College, showcasing his immense artistic talent, though he ultimately set aside his career to prioritize his family. Even so, his creativity never faded—his love for anime and comic books shone through in the incredible portraits he created of his loved ones, and his skills were often put to use in service of his church and community.
Dave was a beacon of light in every room he entered. His presence was unmistakable, his warmth unforgettable. Though he is no longer physically with us, his spirit and legacy continue to shine through the countless lives he touched. His unwavering faith and love for God will live on through his family, who will honor his memory by continuing to share his love, kindness, and faith with the world.
He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His light will never dim.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
2 Timothy 4:7-8
