Genara was predeceased by her husband Leonidas in 1990.
Genara was a well-respected business owner. In the early 1950s, she co-founded a general bulk and retail merchandising store complete with multiple warehouses that operated at a regional level. Across its 20 years of service, she was a profitable and fair businesswoman who never let her bottom line affect her capacity to help others.
Genara moved from Peru to Canada when she was 65 years old, dedicating herself to the care of her youngest grandchildren. She loved walking and always said “If you stop walking; then it’s over”.
Her last 5 years were spent at Cummer Lodge, walking, and whistling up and down the hallways until the very end. We are grateful to Cummer Lodge for their devoted care of our mother, and making our family feel welcome.
