Girolama Catalfo

She was 91 years old; born to Antinino and Maria Mirlocca ( nee Abate) in Vita Italy on May 22, 1930. She married Giuseppe Catalfo (deceased) and together they moved to Canada settling in Toronto and started a large family. She bore 8 children including her youngest set of twins Piero ( Janey) whose brother (Joseph) died at birth, daughters included Liliana (Steve), Violetta, and sons Anthony (deceased ), Vincent, and her eldest twin daughters Maria Lindsay and Jenny ( deceased). Girolama was a grandmother to Matthew, Andrew, Laura, Sarah, Tania, Sofia and Luca and a great Grandmother to Madison and Abigail. She leaves behind nieces and nephews both in Canada and in Italy.

Girolama was an identical twin herself loosing her own beloved sister Antonietta Mirlocca to Breast Cancer at the age of 42. She is survived by her brother Michael Mirlocca and pre deceased by her sisters Petrina and Giovanna. Mom had many passions in life Including Italian cooking and growing her own vegetables as well as a lovely rose garden.

She was a generous and hard working women who raised her children single-handedly after her divorce. Mom entered long term care at 78 transferring to her final home at St. Peter’s Residence at Chedoke where she was treated like family by the entire team . In recognition for the wonderful care she received the family asks that all donations be directed to St Peter’s residence in her memory.

A private family funeral will take place with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery
