Suddenly at home at the age of 62. Gord began his police career as a cadet in his teenage years. His professional Police career began after graduation from OPC in September 1970 and the Toronto Police Service in November 1970. Throughout his career, Gord was assigned to the following Divisions: 14, 52 CIB, 54, Communications, Court Services, and at Toronto Police Headquarters in the following assignments:

Corporate Planning, with his last assignment in Professional Standards as an Acting Inspector. After his retirement in August 1998, Gord enjoyed traveling, his love of photography, spending endless hours with his grandchildren, and working on his life-long project, his self-built custom home.

Gord is survived by his loving wife Cindy; Children Jennifer (Greg), Justin (Shona), and Tyler; Grandchildren Kirsten, Rykin and Josie.

He is predeceased by his parents Leslie and Elsie Norwood, his brother Frank Norwood, and his sister Marlyn Ellis.

Visitation will be held at the Jerrett Funeral Home “North York Chapel”, 6191 Yonge St (south of Steeles Ave) on Saturday, July 30th, 2011 from 11am until time of funeral service in the chapel at 1pm. Private burial to be held at a later date.
