Howard is survived by his beloved wife, Winnie Lem, as well as his brother, Shau Ning Lem, and his loving wife, May Lem.
He is also survived by his adoring children: Jacqueline Akow, accompanied by her husband, Robert Akow, and their son, Julian Akow; Calvin Lem, supported by his wife, Catherine Zhang; and Tracey Lem, sharing her life with her partner, Zhe Gong.
Howard, born and raised in Toronto, dedicated his career at the University of Toronto for over 40 years. Howard had a passion for all things Disney and enjoying the warmth of family. He enjoyed learning about planes, trains and buses which helped him on his beloved show, Jeopardy.
The visitation and funeral will be held at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes, 6191 Yonge Street, North York. The visitation will be Friday, December 15, 2023 from 4 PM to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 10 AM to 11 AM with a visitation from 9 AM to 10 AM preceding the service.
A committal service will occur Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 11:30AM at Elgin Mills Cemetery, 1519 Elgin Mills Road, Richmond Hill.
