Jack Cleveland MacMillan, aged 87 passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 9, 2024. Jack is survived by his adoring wife Patricia (Pat) née Smith, daughter Robin McColl (David) and son Scott MacMillan (Sue). He was an amazing papa to Benjamin, Elysa, Christine, Jonathan, Matthew, Luke and Jordan and also beloved by his seven great grandchildren.
Jack was born in Hearst, Ontario to James and Dorothy MacMillan. During grade school in Northern Ontario he travelled to school by train (sitting with the engineer on the way to school and the caboose on the journey home - according to legend). His schooldays sparked a lifelong love of steam engines and the railroad. He also loved to read about Canadian, rail and WW2 history. Jack attended Albert College in Belleville Ontario where he excelled in athletics. It was during those school years where he met the love of his life Pat. They were married in 1959 and began their new life together in Toronto.
Jack lived a full and vibrant life from beginning to end and touched the lives of many people along the way.
He was a dedicated employee of Suncor for over 30 years and when he wasn’t working, you could find him coaching or supporting his kids and grandkids in their athletic endeavors or sitting by the lake telling stories with friends and family. He was always up for an adventure and loved to travel to see his loved ones.
He will be dearly missed by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Kane-Jerrett North York Funeral Home (6191 Yonge St. south of Steeles Ave.) on Saturday May 18, 2024 at 1:00 pm which will take place in the chapel.
If desired, in memoriam donations may be made to Compassion Canada.
