Mabel May Chan, (nee FONG), passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on Saturday, October 3rd, 2015 in the City of Toronto where she most recently resided. She was born in Newcastle, New Brunswick on August 1st, 1924 to Lee Shee Fong and Bak Yick Fong. Mabel was the second eldest of 12 siblings and is survived by her sister Jean Hoban and brother Frank Fong. Mabel and Harry shared almost 65 years of marriage in Cornwall, Ontario and moved to Toronto to be closer to her son, Brian, when Harry predeceased her on March 12, 2014. She leaves her son, Brian (Nancy Hum) of Thornhill, Ontario and grandchildren Michael and Nicholas. Mabel enjoyed travelling and playing mah jong; spent her summers collecting special perennials for her gardens; and took great joy in spending time with her brothers and sisters either in Montreal or entertaining them at home in Cornwall. She was an avid bridge player and eventually achieved the rank of Grandmaster (Bridge). We are comforted in knowing that Mabel is in a better place, reunited with her beloved Harry.
