It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Monick, age 96, passed away sleeping peacefully the evening of Friday, December 27, 2019. Born in Toronto to Lazarus and Yordana Karrandjias, Mary is survived by her son Dennis and grandchildren Leacia and Jodi. She was predeceased by her husband George and son Bruce. She was the nucleus of our family. A kind, generous and loving soul that cared for others and was cherished and regarded by everyone she met. A truly remarkable human being whose unconditional love and gentle smile will be deeply missed. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home(6191 Yonge Street, North York, Ontario), on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to the Canadian Mental Health Asssociation. Mary was a lovely person and it was a privilege to count her as a friend. She gave her friendship easily, was hospitable and kind, and made guests warmly welcome in her home. Over the many years I knew Mary our conversations covered a wide variety of topics and I was impressed by her curiousity, her reminiscences and her humour which often included a good sprinkling of the ironic. Mary spent years devoting her time weekly to the Canadian Mental Health Association long before mental illness was broadly recognized and discussed. Her determination to improve the lives of those afflicted was admirable and I have the greatest respect for her commitment. Knowing Mary was a pleasure and I will hold good memories of her in my thoughts and in my heart.

My sincere condolences to Butch, Jodi, Leacia and to the Monick family and to all those who knew Mary and were touch by her friendship.
