During the last days of her life, she was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers. Nieves was born in Bacarra, llocos Norte, Philippines, but has been a Torontonian since 1994.
Nieves was married to Pablo Calida who passed away in 2017 and was always a farmer at heart, loved the feel and beauty of the Philippines and especially growing beautiful crops. Nieves remained connected to her homeland and its most prized hobby rice farming even after moving to Canada.
Nieves is survived by the following five children (and spouses): Nida (Frank), Estela (Chris), Pablo (Mercy) and Dominga (Danny) and Berto and ten grandchildren as follows: Jesus, Kevin, Brandon, Dylon, Heidi, Luigi, Daryl, Esther, Dayna, Joshua and two great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Eva Agtina.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 5th at 10:00 A.M. Location: Jerrett Funeral Homes, 6191 Yonge St, North York, ON M2M 4K4.
