Olivette was my biological mother. In 1963, she gave birth to twins (a boy and a girl). We were adopted by a good family in Quebec.  I just wish I had known her. She seemed like a wonderful person. R.I.P.

Our beautiful, generous and stylish Aunty O was unforgettable to those who had the absolute pleasure of meeting her. She was known as Aunty O, Stormy O and SOS O for her signature way of signing all cards, her talent for visiting NY during a storm and for always coming to our rescue no matter what life tossed our way.  It is because of this remarkable woman that Guy and Maryrose are together and have this wonderful family of three daughters she loved like her own grandchildren.  She was always their advocate, brave when they weren’t sure how to navigate the many obstacles to being together from citizenship, jobs, boarder crossing issues and family concerns. Nothing was insurmountable.  She gave with her whole self to those blessed by her love.  Aunty O is one of those truly incredible people who during their life touched others so deeply that she will always be remembered through tender memories as well as lifetime lessons. 
 
A very special memory of Maryrose and Guy’s took place soon after they met, with a close encounter with US Customs.  They were told Guy could not enter the USA, he had crossed too often and required a list of insurmountable items before he could be allowed back in.  This list included a job to return to in Canada, a large sum of cash for spending money, and a one way plane ticket back to Canada.  They returned to Aunty O’s house defeated and sad. She was confident, the ultimate task master and within half a day, they are headed back to US customs armed with their fully completed list.  She knew they were meant to be together and did everything she could to ensure they had a fighting chance.
 
Julianne, Isabelle and Cassandra were like Aunty’s O’s own grandchildren.  They loved her many visits to NY and their summer week at her home in Canada filled with special memories from the sunflower farm, the 2 story tree house and Toronto site seeing.

The world would be in a much better place if there were more lovely people like Olivette in it.   She spread her love, joy and enthusiasm for life to every one she ever met.    
Such a kind, smart and brave girl who took life’s ups and downs with grace and dignity.
We feel very lucky to have had her friendship for many years and she has left us with many fond memories of our time together.

From the very first time I met my friend in 1994, no one was more generous of spirit, strong and thoughtful, capable and sophisticated, who could make me belly laugh until we were both breathless, and was always on my side no matter what. A friendship like ours was one to be cherished. 

My friend struggled with her health over the last several years, and I was thankful she allowed me to help her through these times. It was difficult for Olivette - a private and proud woman - to allow others to help her in her time of need.  

I have so very many memories I will cherish in my heart, and that put a smile on my face. I miss my dear friend, but know she's at peace. 

To you Jack and to family and friends,
I would like to extend my deepest condolences. Olivette an I go back many years when we were young and life was in front of us. So many good memories to treasure. Olivette was the most encouraging and generous person I have ever known. My thoughts are with you all and may these few words bring you comfort and peace. Rest in peace my dear friend.
